Dulwich Jam

Dulwich Jam

The Dulwich Jam began at Dulwich Hamlet Football Club around 2012. The original idea came from organisers, John McClean and Davide who were looking for Open Mic/Jam night that was inclusive as opposed to many other Jams and Open Mic nights they had previously attended which could often be too cliquish or unwelcoming. So with the support of Bob Horsefield on the sound desk, we slowly began promoting our own night.

After 2 years of running the night, the numbers had increased significantly but within our 3rd year, due to unforeseen circumstances we lost our initial venue at Dulwich Hamlet and the Jam temporarily stopped.

This is where the Southwark Sports Bowls Club came in to the picture via John Khan who was a regular member of  the jam and we relocated our night to their club house. The next thing, the Jam was back in full swing bringing along some old faces and some very new faces.  The best thing about Southwark Sports Bowls Club is that the Social Secretary and his team of workers provide the ‘Jammers’ with exceptional support by the amount of external promotions they provide.

Music – “Tonight Tonight” by Second Sense

The Dulwich Jam takes place on the first Wednesday of every month and is open to all, regardless of musical ability. Whether you are an experienced musician or just starting out on your musical journey we invite you to come and join a friendly group of musicians for a live musical Jam.  If you are writing your own songs, you can perform a solo slot.  Or if you want to sing or play along with a gathering of musicians then come along and say hello.  We would love to hear from you.

We are coming into our 3rd year at the Bowls Club and we are getting stronger and stronger in numbers.  The quality of talent and emerging talent is second to none.  The principle of the Jam is very simple, your level of talent is not what is of importance, it is what you want to say or share is what matters.  It is your stage.

We provide all backline including PA, guitar amps, bass amps, drums, keyboards and microphones.  We also provide a sound engineer to make sure everything is sounding at its best.

It is completely free to attend and drinks at the bar are very reasonably priced.  If you would like any more information feel free to contact us here.

Alternatively, just turn up on any first Wednesday of any month and introduce yourself to one of our friendly hosts and we will have you singing and playing with a group of respectful and supportive musicians.  The Jam starts around 7.45pm and we continue until around midnight.  We look forward to seeing you there
